Twix-mas is the perfect time for family outings and memorable experiences. From charming animal encounters to inspiring art exhibitions, scenic views to summer water activities, there's something for everyone.

Wildlife and Nature

  • The kids will absolutely love meeting the crew at Rockhampton Zoo. Mischievous meerkats, cheeky chimps and all your Australian favs can be found around every corner of the zoo giving plenty of opportunity for unforgettable photos! Enjoy an informative Keeper Talk while you're there or learn more about these amazing animals by downloading our free Explore Rockhampton Self Guided Tour App. Rockhampton Zoo is open every day (except public holidays) from 9am to 4.15pm and is free to attend.
  • If the kids are still buzzing with energy, an exciting adventure playground lays in waiting right next door at the Botanic Gardens. 'Ernie' the Dingo (a giant playground installation) is always up for play time! Relax and unwind in the picnic shelter, under the shade of the beautiful landscaped gardens or under the 150 year old Banyan Figs and grab a bite to eat and some refreshments from the Garden Tearooms while you admire their vast collection of souvenirs.
  • Top off the day with a relaxing and picturesque stroll among the treetops of Mount Archer (Nurim) National Park at sunset and don't forget your camera for the perfect family photo!
