Enjoy a cuppa with your pupper

Recharge with Rover at one of Rockhampton’s many beautiful cafes and restaurants in and around the iconic Riverside Precinct. After your stroll along the picturesque riverbank, enjoy a refreshing beverage, tantalise your taste buds with a delicious meal or kick pack with a cold one with your pooch as you take in the beauty of Rockhampton’s CBD. If you travel outside of Rockhampton’s city centre, you will discover some quaint and quirky cafes nestled in peaceful suburbs, all ready to take you and your fur baby’s order upon arrival.

Get out all the zoomies

For every doggo who can’t get enough of wide-open spaces, conversing with their four-legged brethren and catching up on all the news by sniffing the nearby tree stumps, Rockhampton boasts a great number of parks perfect for pets. After the long drive in the car, pull up stump and let you and your fur baby stretch those legs. We’ve listed some ideal pet parks perfect for unleashing the ultimate zoomies!

Wanna go for walkies?

If your pawsome pet prefers a casual stroll on-leash through shaded, winding pathways, Rockhampton region delivers that too! Enjoy the scenic river views of the mighty Fitzroy River (Tunuba), become one with the beauty of nature as birds serenade you through the leafy pathways of the Kershaw Gardens or Frenchville Road. Take your best friend to new heights with a walk among the treetops at Mount Archer's Nurim Circuit. Although the area is a National Park, pets are allowed to walk along the boardwalk (on leash). Please note: No domestic animals are allowed into other parts of the National Park, which include walking trails, or within 5 metres of any playground apparatus.

Did someone say "treato"?

It’s the magic word that makes their ears perk up and the whites of the eyes shine brighter than ever. The magic word that gets the toes tippy-tapping, the tail wagging and the tongue salivating all over their ‘snoot’. Whether it’s pampering, grooming, a new toy or a delicious, irresistible reward, Rockhampton has the right places to truly spoil your fur baby.

Love you to the beach and back

If island vibes are what you and your doggo seek, then a day trip to Great Keppel Island might be on the cards for you both. Island commuters Freedom Fast Cats and Keppel Connections welcome pets aboard their vessels so that you and your pooch can enjoy the sand between your toes and paws. The crystal-clear waters of the island make it ideal for you and your four-legged-friend to paddle around. For the adventure-seeking fur baby family, why not hire a kayak and cruise along the calm waters with doggo in tow. Feeling hungry after all that play time and exploration? Great Keppel Island Hideaway provides a relaxing spot for you and the pup to enjoy a bite to eat and a refreshment or two before heading back to the mainland.

Put those paws up and relax

After a long hard day of sniffing the countryside and enjoying the pet-friendly delights of the region, it’s time to circle around (several times) into a cosy place to sleep. Rockhampton’s pet-friendly accommodation options range from tranquil caravan parks and campsites to comfortable motels and apartments. There’s something to suit everyone’s budget and style.
