The countdown is on to transform into your favourite pop culture icon and roll out to Rockhampton Showgrounds for Capricon Pop Culture Convention!
Gear up for regional Queensland's largest one-day pop culture convention, held Saturday 31 August 2024 and jam-packed with all things comics, collectables, cosplay, anime, medieval, gaming, art, steampunk, furries and more!
Plus get ready to meet the amazing line up of guest stars including Neighbours heart throb and Tomorrow When the War Began star Lincoln Lewis, Mad Max heavyweight and former WWE pro wrestler Nathan Jones, Resident Evil 1's Barry Burton and the return of the man of your nightmares: Wolf Creek's John Jarratt.

Prepare to embark on a thrilling journey through time with Medieval at CapriCon—a captivating blend of historical charm and pop-culture fantasy! Dive into the immersive Medieval Village, where you’ll find vibrant merchant stalls offering an array of intriguing wares and tasty treats. Test your archery skills in the exhilarating Dodgebow battles, or lose yourself in epic quests with imaginative tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons. Plus, join in the fun with lively Medieval Dancing. This unique fusion of old-world enchantment and modern excitement promises an unforgettable experience at CapriCon!
CapriCon will be buzzing with all things furry in 2024. Don’t miss a stroll through the trade booths where you can meet artists, see displays, and find vendors selling furry accessories, art and more. There’s also an unofficial Capricon meet-up just for Fursuiters scheduled for 2pm, so come and have fun with fellow furries. Of course, if your character is part of one of the DC, Marvel, Disney or other multiverses, you’re totally welcome to meet up with like-minded characters and make some new fur-riends! See the program for group meet-ups and head over to the Rotunda (check the map in the app for location) to join any meet-up.

Archer Park Rail Museum Step into a magical world at Archer Park Rail Museum, where the Harry Potter Hogwarts Express awaits! Engine No. 988, a C17 class 4-8-0 locomotive built between 1920 and 1953, mirrors the famed Hogwarts Castle train, making it a must-visit for any fantasy fan looking for the perfect photographic backdrop. Let's not forget our steampunk enthusiasts - the railway museum makes for the prefect place for your steam-style selfie too!
Riverside Precinct With the Fitzroy River (Tunuba) as your backdrop and stylish patterned concrete in the foreground, the Riverside Precinct is a versatile canvas for any costume look. Customs House: This grand sandstone building and its regal staircase evoke a fairy tale or historical drama, perfect for Disney royal or vintage-themed photos.
Walter Reid Cultural Centre For an edgier, grunge aesthetic, the urban setting behind these heritage buildings delivers an industrial-chic vibe - Perhaps for Gotham's hero they truly deserve? The East Lane Alleyway is ideal for a myriad of cosplay costumes from the gritty to the glam. Let your imagination run wild with the kaleidoscope of backdrops from brickwork, to sandstone, pipping and fencing.
Fitzroy Bridge Channel a dystopian or sci-fi theme under the Fitzroy Bridge, where the rugged, industrial backdrop sets the scene for a post-apocalyptic look. The Neville Hewitt Bridge also makes for a cool location for gritty pics, particularly under the bridge near Col Brown Park.
Rockhampton Botanic Gardens Offering an abundance of backdrops for a multitude of photo shoots, Rockhampton Botanic Gardens is the perfect place to capture your cosplay photo op. Venture into the Japanese Gardens within the confines of Rockhampton's historically listed Botanic Gardens, with a serene waterfall and lush greenery, these gardens, this location offers a picturesque setting straight out of a Studio Ghibli film. The Bamboo Forest down by the Murray Lagoon provides a stunning natural backdrop for showcasing your elaborate costume, perfect for capturing a dramatic or fantastical look. Up near the Garden Tearooms, the majestic, 150-year-old Banyan Fig Trees create an unexpected and enchanting setting, ideal for a Tarzan or jungle-themed shoot.
Mount Archer Nurim Circuit Treetop Boardwalk: Whether bathed in sunrise or sunset light, the boardwalk offers a magical, ethereal backdrop that’s perfect for capturing a fairy-tale princess or magical moment.
St Joseph's Cathedral With its majestic, heritage-listed architecture, St Joseph’s Cathedral offers a timeless, storybook setting that’s ideal for a range of costume themes, from classic fairy tales to Gothic fantasy.
