Mount Archer National Park: Escape the summer heat with a drive up to Mount Archer at sunrise or sunset, the highest peak in the region. Rockynats (4th - 6th April): If you're a car enthusiast, you won't want to miss Rockynats, regional Queensland's biggest car festival. Enjoy the spectacle of classic cars, street drags, burnout competitions, show-n-shine, motorbikes and more over three days of automotive action.

Ken Done Exhibition at Rockhampton Museum of Art (March - June): For something a bit more refined, head to the Rockhampton Museum of Art (RMOA) to see the Ken Done Exhibition. The works of one of Australia's most iconic artists will be on display, offering a great opportunity to immerse yourself in culture and creativity.

While you're visit RMOA, take a stroll along Rockhampton's Heritage Architecture trail in Quay Street, which provides a wealth of history to marvel at and explore. For the history aficionados, the Archer Park Rail Museum is an attraction you'll definitely want to add to the itinerary. Constructed in 1899, the architecturally impressive Archer Park was the central railway station for Rockhampton until the mid-1920s. Fitzroy River Barra Bash (28th - 31st October): For fishing enthusiasts, the Fitzroy River Barra Bash in October offers a chance to reel in a prized barramundi and take home your share in over $90,000 worth of prizes and giveaways. Whether you're participating in the competition or just watching the action from the riverbank, it's a great way to spend time outdoors and enjoy the lush river scenery.

Capricorn Caves: Just north of Rockhampton, the Capricorn Caves are an awe-inspiring natural wonder.
