1. FISH THE FITZROY
Rockhampton is well-known as the Home of the Barramundi, with trophy sized fish to be caught right in the heart of the city. Home to 156,000 square kilometres of prime fishing spots, you can fish for barramundi, king threadfin, saratoga, giant trevally and many other fish species.
If you’re flying in for the weekend and don’t have any gear with you, have no fear. Rockhampton has a range of fishing charters that set you up with everything you need to be able to fly in, check in and boat out in no time. You can even time your trip with one of the local fishing comps like the Barra Bounty.
You can even fish right from the banks or pier, with 13 land-based fishing spots available on the Fitzroy River.

If you’re looking to hire mountain bike gear when you’re in town, Giant Rockhampton offers a range of bike equipment from footwear to tyres so be sure to visit them before heading to the trails.
3. WORLD CLASS STEAKS

4. SINK A HOLE IN ONE
Fancy a day on the green? Tee off for a full round, knock a few at the driving range or even take on mini golf at one, or all of Rocky’s most-loved golf courses. If you’re looking for a more prestigious, challenging course or a fun social game, there’s a course that caters for all skill levels.
5. Try a local brew
After a day well-spent with your mates, head to Headricks Lane and enjoy a few cold ones. Headricks Lane has its own micro-brewery onsite where they brew local beers on tap. Also showcasing pints from some of the best brewers around the state and country, you’ll be sure to sink a few!
They also have a mean bar menu so order a few snacks, settle in with your own beer tasting paddle and enjoy the afternoon.
